As part of Library Communications team, I developed an illustration project to celebrate National Library Week and spotlight several campus libraries that don’t have their own dedicated buildings. I proposed creating curated “bookshelf” illustrations, each featuring a selection of titles chosen by librarians in their respective departments to highlight distinctive or meaningful works from their collections.
Inspired by Jane Mount’s Ideal Bookshelf style, I closely studied each book’s physical design, including its typography, colors, proportions, and cover imagery, and recreated those details by hand to capture the character of the originals. The finished illustrations were turned into sticker sets that allowed students to proudly represent the libraries they felt connected to. The series was enthusiastically received and helped bring visibility and personality to lesser-known campus library collections.
